Thick Branch Octospawn Growth?

So I was expecting a normal Octospawn that looks mostly like a frogspawn(right) but got this thick branch Octospawn(left) which after some research I guess has much shorter tentacles. Anyone else that has had one for a while? Do the tentacles stay short like this or do they get longer as it grows? Do they branch like frogspawn?

Both of those are frogspawns. Ocrospawns have more "radial" acrospheres that are drawn tightly to the tentacle, like this:
