Thickness of glass?

Looking for insight from someone that has a tank around 1500 gallons. I've gotten one quote to build my tank that will use 3/4" Starphire glass. A different builder has said that the 3/4" is not safe enough and that I need to use a multi layer of glass with laminate in between. This drives the cost up significantly but the reasoning is understandable. I've gotten multiple quotes pertaining to the single sheet but only one pertaining to the multi. Ultimately, is the 3/4" safe or does the multi layer need to be done?

Just go with whatever Planet Aquariums says and order from them. Nobody builds tanks in this size range that are better and more reliable, and especially for their prices.

Multi-layering helps protect the silicone seams. For a large tank, it would be well worth it long term. As for glass thickness, it goes thicker the higher your tank is. (More height equals more water pressure on the glass.)
