I believe my crocea clam has PMD and I’d like to do the fresh water dip…but it’s quite strongly attached to the rock beneath. How do I make it let go?

freshwater dip should only be done as a last resort as it stresses the clam out a lot, make sure there is nothing else bothering it first (paramters, flow etc) before doing a freshwater dip.

To remove your clam from a rock, you can carefully cut the byssal threads with a razor. There should be a pinned thread that details removing them.

Just be careful not to pull on the clam too hard or it’s byssal organ could get damaged. You’re unlikely to come into contact with its foot. As soon as it reacts from you touching it, its foot should be safely inside it. That said be careful not ti damage the foot somehow.
