So with my numbers on the upswing to being good n the water still very cloudy my buddy gave me a super skimmer. A Diatom Filter, it’s great in only 24 hrs my tank is 65 percent better already hoping by tomorrow it will be where I want it

So I checked my numbers today and looking good.
PH 8.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
So from what I understand I have a cycled tank. In only 2 weeks. Sweet

So I installed a UV light last night because I can’t get my water to clear up and my test numbers are spot on , it’s driving me crazy so I hope this light will work

Paulie, those New Jersey hermit crabs only live a few weeks in a reef tank. My avatar is a New York crab that I picked up while diving at night here many years ago.

Just a warning, the gsp in the last picture can be a weed because it grows very fast and is hard to get rid of. I recommend putting it on its own rock away from the main rock work because it will take over and eventually push out the other corals.

You’ve got some algae starting to take over. You should get some snails or crabs to clean it up before it gets worse. Looking good though. You know that that sailfin tang will need a much bigger home very soon right?

That Fish will be going to Motortrenz in the near future Also I have eight snails 12 blue leg hermit crabs five peppermint shrimp I’m thinking they should do some good cleaning and also I take a toothbrush to the rocks very lightly every now and then keep it under control what happened is I added new live rock and went through another little mini cycle just coming out of it now

Emerald crabs work very well for the thicker spots if the hermits don’t clean it up :)

They doo look like mysis. I don’t blame the fish. As long as you can get them to eat, you should be able to raise them no problem! :)
