Beautiful tank and your grandson looks like a cutie!

My now 22 year old daughter used to have problems sleeping thru the night between 1-3 years old. At least 3 nights a week she would wake up and not go back to bed for hours.

At the time I had a 8' 180G reef tank with an 8' couch in front of it and it wasn't until I started taking her into that room, both cuddling down on the couch and with the red moonlights and watch the tank till she fell asleep again.
My wife would come in and find us both asleep the next morning.

Definitely a core memory for both her and myself.

When she came home from college to visit 2 months ago I found her asleep in front of my current 210G tank when I got up to go to work. She had drug my recliner in from the other room.
Since her visit I bought a nice couch and added a couple red leds to the tank. She is coming home next week for Christmas.

I'd kill to have a couch in front of my tank. Technically, I could but it would look terrible in that area.
Many years ago I worked in a fish store where we had lots of coral and other essential stuff. When folks asked about upgrading or replacing a tank and said that they wished they had more room I always asked them if they had a couch. Most people said yes and I instantly responded; “Get rid of it, it’s taking up valuable tank space.”

I am not sure how that applies here but I think you should consider consulting with your interior decorator and see about getting some upgrades for 2026!

Little back story on What I mentioned above about my daughter.

I was 21. Renting a 4 bedroom house. I had two roommates on top of my little family.

Had one large room that was added on it the back. Had 3 tanks and that single couch in that room. Both my roommates were into aquaria.

I had my 180 mixed reef,1 buddy had a 125 fresh planted tank and the other had a 155g bow front saltwater predator tank.

Depending on who was home the couch moved constantly. Eventually it just stayed in front of my tank because my roommates also saw it was my daughter’s favorite spot. There tank wound up with lawn chairs in front of them. All were happy.

Miss those days
