Hi everyone,

I wanted to share this with all of you and hopefully change some perspectives on sharks. This program is at Theater of the Sea in Islamorada Florida.

This would be a great experience, however these are nurse sharks. They're known for not being very aggressive. Try this with a tiger, blacktip, bull, or many other species and you may walk away with less body parts then you started with.

Hi! It was a great experience for sure :-) If you are ever in The Keys it's totally worth checking out. Super friendly, knowledgeable staff. Unfortunately, Nurse Sharks are actually involved in a lot of shark attacks in the South Florida and Keys area. People sometimes will provoke them because of their docile nature and end up getting hurt pretty badly. I think that most sharks will surprise you that they are seriously misunderstood. They are also very intelligent and have been on this planet for a very long time. It's all about mutual respect when it comes to any animal. We just hope that people take the time to learn more about how sharks really are and not just about their aggressive reputation.

You can thank Jaws for the gen. pop's idea of sharks. People just don't understand them. If they are going to eat something, they want the easiest meal. Path of least resistance. A diver, for example, in their eyes is a large foreign hissing monster spewing bubbles everywhere.

I'm so sick of hearing "overfishing" We are so strictly regulated in the US when it comes to the fisheries. You know where the blame is, but we're so politically correct that we can't even say it.

Yeah, I've been around sharks for years and have fished them (and released) for about 10 years now every summer. Most sharks are un deserving of their reps. The reason I included blacktips isn't because I think they're aggressive. But rather shy so attempting to grab one would give it no other choice but to bite. And those guys will make a mark haha.
