Thought a Fish Died

Has anyone thought they had lost a fish only to find them a week later alive. The reason I ask is because we have a school of 6 Blue/Green Chromis that has been in the tank for almost 2 years. A week ago I only saw 5. Its normal for one to go missing for maybe a day or two. But as the days went by I knew it was dead even though we don't have any predators and it was looking healthy. Come to today getting the frozen food ready for the evening feeding and there it is.

What could of caused mine to do this? Did he get stressed out and needed a week long vacation in a little cave?

It might have been being picked on, chromis have a good reputation for picking each other off. How big is the tank?

Its a 90 gallon. It is the smallest of the bunch. But I have never seen them pick on each other. Other fish in the tank is 18 year old Blue tang, Yellow tang and two 12 year old clown fish.
