Ok, I bought a hog.5 Ats a few months ago and so far the only thing I am able to grow in it is a brown slime algae. I have scrubbed it off every time only to see it return. My tank does not have any type of algae growing in it. My nutrients are always reading low. Phosphates are usually 0 or .003 and nitrates are at 5ppm. I actually started feeding a little more to bring it up to this level. My zoas were not doing well with it at less than 1ppm. So I know my tank runs clean, but everything I have read about Ats and brown slime algae points to not enough light on the ats. The hog .5 only has the one led on it. I have 2 red-orange led's laying around and wondered if I added them to the hog .5 led if that would help. Or is the slime algae a result of a clean tank or something else I am missing. WHat are your thoughts on this?

If your system is slready running 0 numbers, theres nothing for your algae to feed on.

Thanks, for the response. That is what I am thinking personally. My nitrates are around 5 ppm. The brown slime algae is what is throwing me off is all.

Thats a weird one, I'll give ya that, but it must be feeding on something, weird algae growth, but if its working, I'd not mess with it.
