There is this bubble mesh on a medium small feather duster just below the tube worms opening. I assume the feather duster is doing this but was just wondering if anyone knew for what purpose? I’m just curious.

nice pictures, either eggs, or a mucus net to protect itself. I don't know if there are any sponges that look like that.

Could be eggs from a snail, difficult to say.

Hey thanks! Ya it must be some sort of mucous net for protection or stability as its beginning to grow a straight b-line away from the rock. Just curious and could not locate much information about it so I thought I would create some for anyone else who comes across this.

So pretty sure it’s pulling in rocks and debris to support its tube as it branches outward away from rock. Very cool to see the ingenuity from such a overlooked creature.
