I don’t know if anyone reads these, but if I can quit, anyone can. I drank for 20 years, and am looking at three years of sobriety today. Life has tested me many times since then, but reefing has always helped keep me on track. Here’s to another year of sober reefing! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Hi Matt,

I realize this is an older thread, but I just wanted to say congrats. It's tough, but you did it, and you should be VERY proud of yourself.

Wishing you the best,

Walker
Thank you very much! Reefing has been instrumental in my recovery, and is now my drug of choice. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Keep up the good work and know that while you must do the work yourself, you are not alone.

Wow congrats my bro!!! So amazing!!! Keep up the fight!!!

One of the few times being a quitter is a good thing. Congrats on your sobriety!

Good job man! I need to get on the wagon I really enjoy my nightly bourbon or 2 watching the tank to unwind. But I know i need to drop the habit. I keep telling myself today is the day but I never follow through. I need to focus on how many corals I could afford if I quit lol.

I know this is an old thread but I been poking around the lounge as this is a part of the forum I have never explored, and I want to say I completely agree. In a different manner of sorts. I lost my younger brother back in October, and the holidays have been rough this year. That being said reefing is an awesome tool to keep your mind busy and I wish everyone the success you have had! I grew up with substance abuse all around me and VERY luckily, most all of my family and friends have turned themselves around for the better. Sorry to dig up an old post, but happy holidays everyone!

I’m so sorry for your great loss. Praying for you and your family.

I appreciate it. Time, and faith heal all wounds, and a reef tank keeps idle hands and mind busy

I’m sorry for your loss as well. My brother isn’t as fortunate as I, and is fighting for his life right now due to alcoholism. I am also thankful for this community to have the support we do when life challenges us. I wish you success in reefing and life, and thank you for sharing. Feel free to pm me anytime if you need someone to talk to. Take care.

I appreciate it. I've found myself scouring this forum as a means of distraction when I need to stop tinkering on my tank and let it do it's thing lol. I pray your brother pulls through and overcomes his demons/health problems.

I’m really sorry to hear this. Happy Holidays to you. I hope reefing gives you a positive distraction from the pain of losing a loved one

If it’s something that is just a daily drink, is it something you need to kick? People drink coffee which I know isn’t comparable but if it’s something that isn’t hurting you then it could be ok.

Best wishes to everyone who needs them
