I have a tiger pistol shrimp that went after my hammer coral. It snipped a couple polyps off before I took the hammer coral out. I'm wondering if it's normal behavior for them to go after corals? The hammer was placed on a rock away from sand bed.

I don't think so.That's def not normal but i suppose it could be a hit or miss personality wise. was there food or anything in the hammer, anything that stuck out?
It went after it a couple times before I stepped in and took the hammer out. It actually just tried to climb the rock to get a piece of the hammer again, but it's already gone.I wanna say give it time see if it keeps doing it but hammer corals are a bit expensive, could be a one time thing could not depends on the shrimps behavior. your call, but i couldnt find anything other than threads of fish getting attacked by them
