If you could travel back in time, what one piece of advice would you give yourself as you embarked on your reefing journey?
Don’t buy a saltwater tank. You’ll get addicted.

Or if you still plan to do so…Don’t listen to your wife and buy the biggest tank you can fit right from the start.

I bought a 55 gallon, then a 115 gallon system, then a 20 gallon, then a 210 plus sump, then a 40 gallon. There’s a reason for my R2R name.

My husband has agreed that he’s okay with a 400 plus gallon system as long as I’m willing to decommission the rest of the tanks once that one goes up. You’re right that it probably would have been less expensive to just go all in form the get go but I also would have probably just made all the newbie mistakes on a much grander scale!

1)Anything super unique or rare, or that yo have special attachment to…find a way to frag it and put it in a second system.

There are things I’ve lost years ago that don’t exist anymore and simply are irreplaceable to me

2) related to 1. Have a backup power plan capable of lasting several days
