Hi,

I have a Timor Wrasse for 2 months, he ate and loved pellets, around 2 weeks ago he stopped eating pellets (he still picking them up from the sand) and he only started to eat AF liquid Mysis.

Is this normal?
and anything I can do about it?

Thank you.

Is he underweight?

Only thing I can think of is that wrasse do have sensitive jaws and perhaps it prefers softer food. Injuries to the pharyngeal jaws and teeth are somewhat common in Halichoeres genus. Though not like the Macropharyngodon (leopard) genus.

You may want to try smaller pellets but I can't think of anything else.

He is not underweight at all. I'm feeding Hikari Marine S pellets.

Is there a pellet smaller that this?
Or it's possible that he just like to pick them up from sand rather from the water column, so to me it looks like he is not eating?

Interestingly, I have Leapards as well, and they love the pellets but are spitting out the Mysis.

Interesting. Halichoeres do feed from predating on critters in the sand and rocks rather then the water column but obviously aren’t picky and will eat whatever comes there way. Maybe he just prefers mysis and isn’t hungry enough to bother eating pellets. Idk
