Tiny brittle stars

Since i have moved my aquarium to the 20g long anf rearranged the rock as you can imagine. I have seen so many arms pop out that i have never seen before in all sections of the tank. They don't come out at all during the day but when i turn the lights on a i see alot of them rushing back into their holes. Btw, thay are black and white. And don't seem to be bothering anything. Very weird though because i ahve had this rock for well over 2-3 years and i have never seen any in my tanks before.

Questions:
How are they beneficial?

Anyone have bad experiences with these small stars?

very good! eat detritus and debris. they pretty much stay in their holes, waving their arms when food is present, sometimes coming out. they don't hurt anything :)

i also have lots of small ones sort of tanish. and all you ever see are the little arms sticking out the holes. they never come out and never bother anything..
