Hi everyone. 1st post on R2R (besides introductions )

I know everyone seems to have an Evo 13.5 so this will be more of a journal vs a show off thread lol

I purchased this tank while Petco was having a 20% off if you bought online and pick up in store so I pulled the trigger on an Evo.

July 22th I set the tank up with roughly 10 lbs of Caribsea Arag-Alive Fiji Pink. Around 11 lbs of live rock and saltwater from the LFS and let it cycle.

August 15th I put the Intank filter kit in chamber 1 with Intank filter floss, the charcoal and ceramics from the Evo Filter and a bag of Chemi-pure Elite.
placed a Eheim adjustable heater in chamber 2 and a Tunze 1073.008 pump to upgrade the Fluval pump.

Today (9-7) I went to my local LPS and puchased a pair of Frostbite Clowns, a Yellow Watchman Goby, A cleaner shrimp, 2 nassarius snails and 2 Astaeas (I think haha)

These is what the LFS called Astaeas, When I asked for Turbo's they said they didnt have Turbos but had Astreas? can anyone confirm?

I also bought a couple frags, A GSP and a couple different zoas (1 green and 1 orange) They are all looking a bit ticked off right now but have started to open a little bit in the past 3 hours

They are usually pretty hardy for handling.. (be careful though they can be highly toxic).

2 month update

Everything seems to be settling in well. Had a rogue snail that kept knocking my 2 little zoa frags off the rocks but I think I may have not glued them too well. I let them chill in the sand bed for the past couple of weeks, they grew a little bit and I tried to glue them again today, fingers crossed so far so good.

Last week I purchased a couple more coral frags, I got another Zoa, a couple tiny Acans and a Birdsnest.

A couple days later I saw that the Acan frag came with a couple hitchikers, Aiptasia. ( bottom of rock frag ) 20210919_195138.jpg

My attempt at eradicating it was to try and pull it off with tweezers, it tucked itself into a little cranny in the rock so i dug and ground the tweezers in to squish it, lol. scrubbed it with a toothbrush and let it sit in tap water for 10 minutes (not covering the acan) then put a dab of super glue where it was a buried it in the sand to where only the Acan was sticking out.

Today while fixing the zoas I noticed I had a little Hydroid outbreak, guess i will let them be and see if they die off.

I also added a Jebao SW-2 wavemaker (it is turned down all the way with night mode turned on) I havent played much with the different settings yet.

while pointing out where I put a zoa, little shrimp offered me a manicure haha.
