So for the last year I have been converting my 300g (355g with sump and long runs of tubing) FOWLR to mixed reef. I have been fairly successful seeing good growth in softies like ricordia, hairy mushrooms and regular mushrooms. I also am seeing good growth from the bubble, hammer and torch. After about 6 months the favia is showing signs of taking off and encrusting the rock next to it. I have a small 3 head duncan that never opens as I think the Angel does a fly by when it does! Lol. Have a 15 yr old Emperor that’s the boss (11“ beak to tail and 6-8” tall) and has left most coral alone...only had an appetite for the pulsing Xenia after they had exploded in growth and looked awesome at the top of my tank. Powder Blue, Blue Hippo, Tomini, & Blonde Naso Tangs all pretty good size. Melanurus wrasse, pink skunk clown, & ocellaris clown.

Right now, tank seems pretty happy. Calcium is around 380, Mag 1080, alk 12.2, ph 8.17. I do a 25% water change every 2 weeks, add about 2 gallons of Kalkwasser on slow drip each week, and add 75ml of Fuel on Tuesday’s and Saturday’s.

I would like to automate and bring down alk a bit, but everything seems to be healthy and happy so I’m hesitant to change. I saw the article and discussion about homemade All Reef and that’s appealing as well. I would love to hear some suggestions and thoughts. Thanks for any help.
