To much Calcium

OK guys and girls I have to admit I've been lazy with my tank lately. Through the holidays and hunting season I have not made time for my tank. I spent most of the day yesterday doing water test, cleaning equipment and tank. All parameters were good except Calcium (off the chart of my Red Sea test kit). I did a large water change and turned off my my calcium doser. As I'm writing this I realized I didn't test Magnesium. I have had a couple SPS die or almost dead in the last couple weeks so I'm hoping it was my water being out of balance. I will test again when I get home. I'm hoping with not dosing CA it will balance out in a week or so. Please feel free to offer advice on lowering my CA safely or just tell me what I already know You Need To Make Time For Your Tank!

Use a second syringe of titrant to see how high calcium actually is. Just add the numbers together.

Magnesium at any level short of a super overdose did not likely kill the corals. Nor does high calcium.

I took your advice Randy and filled another syringe. Here's my readings
CA 520
Alk 8.7 dkh
Mag 1220
Phosphate .13 (hanna)
Salinity 1.027

Personally, I wouldn't worry about that Ca level with 1220 Mg. If you have active calciferous algae it'll be down to 450 in no time if you just leave it to itself. I'm fighting a 300+ppm alk issue and would be happy to have those 3 numbers right now. LOL

520 ppm calcium is no concern. You can just let it drift down on its own. :)
