Tank is 54gal corner, almost a yr old. It's inhabitants, much older. I'm just starting to get the purple algae on rocks etc but idk if I like the back walls covered. Weird, It's only where the light shines. The shadow area in the back doesn't have any. Thoughts/concerns?

Some people do. I would.

It's really a personal preference but I do know that if you do not, it will eventually get more challenging to remove.

Scrape away, nearly everyone scrapes algae off of their glass. I personally dont like it growing on my glass so I remove it with a razor blade. Like Mijan mentioned, It will get harder to remove as it gets thicker, especially on pumps. Coralline algae will grow like crazy in a healthy tank. Nice anemone btw.
