Toad Stool Drooping

Good evening all,

I got a colony of 4 toad stool mushrooms last Sunday,

They were all fine in the fish shop, when I got home one of them stayed completely closed for 3 days.

It has since opened up during the hours of light, but at night time it drops over to one side.

I have a fluval reef 4.0 light, I have tried increasing the flow. But it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference.

It's also worth noting that it has spots of bright yellow illumination on that particular coral.

Just wondering what this could mean and if I need to do something or if it will come right in a few more days?

This is my first coral, so I'm still learning.
Other corals appear very healthy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Really? The other 3 don't, so I was concerned that something was wrong with that one in particular.

mine does, then it stands back up when the lights turn on

Ok I'm assuming that it's because it's a juvenile with a narrower base. The other 3 are allot thicker and can probably support the weight maybe.

Do you know what the spots are and why they aren't on the others?

I can't see the spots clearly enough to identify, is it possible to get a slightly closer pic?

It's hard to properly catch it on camera, but I think this picture shows it

The one that’s “drooping” also have algae of some sort in the 2nd pic if you zoom in it’s really noticeable. Might see if you got a baster or something to spot feed with and blow it off. The reason they were closed for 3 days I would say is that they were stressed because water parameters from the LFS to your tank and different anything from PH, temperature, nitrates and phosphates.

Yeah I think you're on the ball there, it must have been a change in parameters.

The first picture I took is actually from a few days ago, but I have since removed the algae from it.

I'll give spot feeding a go aswell tomorrow.

I wouldn’t spot feed it anything I just brought that up to use the tool to blow off the algae. If you haven’t checked parameters yet I’d do that first because feeding is going to make more waste in the water and raise parameters more.

That same toad stool seems to be rather droopy.
It just doesn't seem terribly right

Did you get all of these at the same time?

Water parameters, lighting, and flow?

Sometimes toadstools can be temperamental. Mine would droop for a day or two, then be perfectly fine.

Yeah I got them all together, I increased water flow a bit yesterday because 2 didn't open in a couple of days, I only have one now not opening,
But the drooping appears to be worsening.

Water parameters are ok, although nitrites are a bit on the high side, but are coming down.

Currently doing 20% water changes a week. Last changed on Friday

I'm wondering too if the one that is leaning is getting shaded by the other corals. Is it possible to maybe it frag it off the rock and move it to another spot? I'm no expert about this, but I feel like in the future you might have issues with four toadstools all on top of each other.

That's a very good point and now that you say it, it's something I am going to have to think about doing in the future.

But initially they were all standing and had enough room.

I'd be afraid to move it, over the way it is now

Wow, yours look fabulous.

Thank you for showing a picture of all of your toadstools like that. I always lean on the side of caution with corals touching each other.

Did you recently have anything die in the tank that you aren't aware of? My weeping willow in a 20g tank is the first thing to show that something is off. Sure enough, I had a hammer BJD'ing in a spot that was hard to see. It also will show when the parameters are off a bit from where it's used to having them.

I haven't had anything die as of yet in there,
I'm testing the water every second day at the moment aswell.

Does it look like that one is dying?
