Toad Stools should come with instructions

I got a neon Green Leather Toad Stool during the #WWC sale a few weeks ago. It showed up in perfect health. I put it on the sand bed instead of the frag rack along with the other new corals because Ive read it can tick other corals off. Everything was going great so I moved it to the frag rack. It started to show less and less polyps over a few days and then nothing. I moved it back to the sand bed in hopes it would come back. Nothing for two weeks. I made the decision that if it looked the same the next morning I was going to remove it from the tank and throw it a way. The next day its got green polyps all over it and some skin waving in the current. Of course when researching Toad Stools I read that they shed. What wasn't read was how long that can last and exactly what it would look like. So I'm posting here to let new owners know that it will become dark and as smooth as a baby's butt. Its going to look like that for weeks. I'm sorry I don't have pictures but I thought it was dead and was so disappointed. Im glad I gave it 2+ weeks before giving up or I would have killed a beautiful coral.

I have a large toadstool that gets pouty and shrivels up with no polyps. It will stay like this for months. The only positive is when it does finally snap out the funk it always comes back larger. I don't have a lot of experience but it seems like the larger it gets the longer the molt times are.
Mine is just starting come out of a 3 month long pout. I like to blow them off with a turkey blaster if flow isn't strong enough to remove the flesh coming off when they molt.

Toadstools in particular do not like being moved around. As mentioned, they do pout when not happy or shedding.
If it’s happy where it’s at, leave it be for at least a month. Then, move it to where you want its spot to be.
They need time to acclimate to your system.

The other fun thing about them is sometimes they never shed I’ve had this Japanese toadstool for probably a year and it shed once right at the beginning and never since. And before anyone panics and tells me about the aptasia, it is actually a lightbulb anemone
