So after a lot of research online I have come up with nothing. Here's the story, my toadstool was the pride of my tank about 2 weeks ago it was open and happy and looked amazing, then within 24 hours everything changed. The coral stopped opening, I thought it may just be being moody and didnt think anything of it, after a week of not opening I got worried and started doing some reading about what could be causing this. At first I thought it maybe molting because it had a shiny appearance which under the moon lights it still does, but now the pimple like things have started growing on it and I'm worried it might be the end of the road. I've attached some pics, any help or info would be greatly appreciated!! All my parameters are normal
ph - 8.1
nitrates - 0
nitrites - 0
Phos - .25

water temp swings between 79.5 and 80.2
salinity is .026

Thanks again!!

Hmm, what kind of flow do you have in the tank? What other corals do you keep in there? Do you run carbon?

All 3 of my toadstools look that way when their shedding
+1 Can take upwards of a month for a leather to shed and look normal again. If it was happy in your tank and nothing has changed then if you just give it some time it will probably shed and open back bigger and brighter.

Wow thanks guys, thats what I keep reading but the pimple things worried me. Anyway other corals include a bunch of zoas, some lps frags, and a few other shrooms. The toadstool is in a higher flow area, I am running a hydor 425 gph power head, also I have been running carbon to try and lower the phosphates.

My neon toadstool, which was about 12" when open, looked like that. Eventually it started getting holes in it, and later on i lost it. It was my first coral, and i had it for 5 or so years. Grew it from a quarter sized frag.

I have no idea what happened, nothing changed... Not saying this will happen to you either. Just my story with mine. Good luck!

Mine looked like that too for a couple weeks. Didn't notice any pimples. Thought it was a goner, then one day it was back to normal.
