Ok so Idk if it’s dead but I changed the temp the other day and it closed up and now there’s algae all over it.

It should be fine. They close up, get a shiny appearance, then it will shed its skin and the polyps will come out again.

Mine recently closed up for 3 or 4 months straight.

Sadly and not smart of me but I bought him and am in the diatom stage... could the diatom algae kill it?

Diatoms will not kill it, but how long has the tank been set up?

A month and a half
Water parameters are checked weekly at my LFS and they all are good!
