My toadstool leather hasn't been fully extended this past week. Today I see a 3mm area of what looks to be decomposition (see pic). There is a tiny hole that extends through. Anybody know of a a disease? Cure?

Could be a parasite. Take a soft toothbrush and clean the area to see if you can see anything in there. Do you see any strings coming out of the sore? It could be a hydroid. You will probably have to manually remove it.

Ive had that before on mine. Couldn't tell you what it is other than what you think it is, a dead spot, of some sort. But it will go away. They heal up really good.

Well I removed this long papery thing with tweezers.

Whatever it is/ was, it's about 1cm long and appears to be an empty paper tube. After removal:

Looks like it was a worm of some sort. The coral looks better now though...should heal right up. Good Luck!

Just all of a sudden you got this thing in your coral? Glad you decided to pull it out. I've not run into that out of the blue. Mine was just a dead piece of the coral.

Sometimes particles and or detritus can clog the pores in the toadstool which will cause it to "burn" a hole through it. I've had it happen a couple times and they have healed nicely. Since you removed the likely cause it too should perk back up in no time.

Thank you everyone. I removed as much soft decomposed matter as possible... It practically disintegrates in the effected spots so there's a big gap in the coral. I hope it does come back!
