Only from shading in my experience. I’ve never had mine cause any issues
Toadstool leather corals (Sarcophyton sp) can be toxic to other corals, especially those nearby, but they are not generally considered dangerous to humans or fish. They release terpenoid compounds, which can stunt the growth of other corals, particularly SPS corals, and may be released when stressed. While not directly harmful to humans, these toxins can impact water quality and the overall health of your reef tank.

I’ve heard that also. For 4-5 years now however I have had a large toadstool and devils hand in my mixed reef. I’ve never seen or experienced any negatives from having them.
