I've got a huge beautiful toadstool leather and I want to put it in another tank that I am building. It has fused to 3 different rock structures. The question is how low can I frag this thing and still retain it's health.

Ideally I would like to make the cut where the hard part of the top of its trunk ends (the black ring) and then frag the rock bellow it to keep as a base (blue ring)

Would this be possible?

You can cut it much farther up into the soft tissue and lightly rubber band it to a rock. The piece that you don't get off might grow back also.

Cool thanks.
So if i just cut the soft part I can just snip the trunk of it? What cutting instrument would be best suited to do this?

Also there is just a fraction of it that is attached to one of the rock structures. I tried peeling it off a little and it came off some. would it be safe to peel it off with out damaging it?

You may be able to coax it off the rock, worth a shot.
To cut it off use a uility blade, or a scalpel
