Technically this might end tomorrow, but Heatsink USA has the 8.46 inch slotted heatsink on sale for $10 a foot (it's 75% off $3.37 per inch).
I have been planning a 40 breeder in my mind and have slowly started accumulating the parts. I'm picking things off on sale/craigslist, and a DIY led light has been considered, the only problem being the high cost of heatsink. This solves that problem as I'd love to do 8" x 30". This isn't perfect, as fan placement will take some thought and a splash guard will take some rigging, but at $30 for 30" it's almost too cheap to pass up. This would normally be $101 at cost. I'd probably do an array of single LED's or multicore or pucks. But with this all options would remain on the table.
