If you don't want to kill it put it in your sump. I keep chocolate chip stars in mine to help keep it clean but would never allow a star of any kind in my DT with one exception of the little tiny brittle stars who are harmless. I had a big brittle for a while and small fish started disappearing,

i wouldn't keep them in sump. they'll go right thru your plumbing to your return pump straight to the dt. once there impossible to get out.
