I have an empty spot on my rockwork in a kind of weird place. Not sure what I could put there but I just removed a large colony of Beauty and the Beast palys that were spreading too fast. This spot has no shading but it is toward the back of my tank. Could I put a Monti frag back here on the little outcropping? I would love to have a grated plating Monti Cap but I don’t have another place where it won’t cause too much shading if it grows large. The par reading in this spot is around 120.
What do you all think?

Go for it! What’s the worst that can happen? I like the idea that the worst won’t happen if you can keep it low and contained. It won’t smother other coral and shade the tank as you mentioned

It looks like it's growing. I would leave it and let it do its thing. Moving it at this point might not be a good idea.
I've moved caps higher before thinking they needed it only to have to put them back when they started to bleach.
I bet if you leave it a couple months longer it might start to plate out. It's looking like it's ready.
