Tank is 65 gallons. I want to have tunnels and gaps for fish to swim through and hide, but also want to make sure they have plenty of room to swim. Should I take a couple pieces out and put them in refugium or keep it like it is?

Also, will algae start covering this up? My Gyre creates awesome flow and moved my sand around a bit

I like it how it is now. Plus more rock equals more surface area for good bacteria. Regarding the algae question, you may get some but as long as you get flow to all the nooks and crannies (no dead spots) you should be fine. Great aquascape!

I just want algae or something to cover up where the water movement from the gyre blew away the sand. This pump is awesome

I think it looks great. Just make sure the rock is at least 1" away from any glass you want tho keep clean.

Updates: did a little rearranging to get rock further from glass so now theres at least 1.5" clearance at the closest spot. BRS said the flipper is 1.25" thick so we're good. Also...WHAT THE HECK IS IN THE LAST PIC??

That looks about right for rock. Definetly good call on the flow, that's my weakness and I'll be getting a gyre tomorrow to help.

That's probably something that came out of the dead rock if it was originally from the ocean. My pukani rock from brs had lots of that junk, but I cycled it in Tubs, so it washed out.

The more caves and hiding spots the fish can sleep, hide etc... The happier they'll be. I redid mine from the few times, and now have a lot of exposed sand bed for the fighting conch to crawl around in.

My tank is a 60x18x24, and I may have too much rock also, but it depends how many sps you are going to have. But I think you're just fine with the rock amount.

Imo it's about what looks good. I use to have 1lb per gallon in my nano. Then I had 1.5-2lb/gal now it's probably like 1/2lb or less. Very minimal now. I do have a couple pieces in my fuge.

I think I'm going to get more rock. My tank is 65 gallons, plus a 10 gallon refugium and a sump. I now have 60lbs of rock in the tank and 5lbs in the refugium. May get another 10 for the fuge.

The Gyre pump with new controller is awesome!! I have it set on the tidal preset cycle now so the water is a little calm tonight. It will increase in the morning and ramp up a little more during the day
