Top Off Water

I want to eliminate my 15G ATO I have. Right now it fills with RO water directly and I use the smart ATO to fill the sump. Any opinion with just bringing the RO direct into the sump. Its at 125G tank and I don't have much evaporation

Mainly because I am budling up slime in the ATO container

It doesn't happen very often but I have seen a couple threads where people talk about flooding their tank with water on floor because of a stuck float valve or faulty sensor.
I've seen a couple big tanks that because of this, they added so much fresh water it crashed their tanks.

I have seen a few here mention they do exactly what you want too.
I see the limited amount water in the top off container as a safety thing.
