Hi, my gold torch has been opening in a cupping shape for several weeks now. It’s opening pretty large, but it’s a strange shape, and the outer tentacles seem under inflated. I’ve tried different flow patterns, speeds, areas... same.

Also you can see where tentacles are coming out the side of the cup on one side. I don’t know, may have ripped it playing with current at some point trying to fix cupping.

Thoughts? Need this thing to thrive! I might move it lower soon.

Bump :) My torch has been doing the same cup-shaped extension for weeks now. Does this really mean it is splitting?

My feed back is it looks healthy and is inflated. Which is a good sign, it could be the beginning process of splitting, at night take a look and see if some of the heads are starting to squeeze inward, that will answer the question on if it is growing

Could be splitting, but my experience in splitting of euphyllia is they commonly split under a head or at a angle to the mother head. From the looks it may be over lit do to the retracted tentacles as well.

Looks to me like it's making an attempt to split into two heads. The polyp starts to pinch in the middle until it eventually pinches off two separate heads.

Hi,

I think the question is what exactly are you asking? Is it doing something different than before. Some info about the tank parameters and light may help. Could be a flow issue too.

But would help to know what you are referencing first.

Has the water flow in the tank changed at all? I have noticed my torch will do that when the flow is coming from underneath, and pushing the polyps up and a little together. Just my observation.
