Hello, so I had a crazy experience with my aquarium and torch coral today. I recently bought this torch coral that looked to be in decent shape but has quickly declined in health.

Today, it’s head popped off and left it’s skeleton. I did some research on that and put the heads in a calm area where they could possibly re-grow their skeletons. However, it seems like one of my fish bothered them and one of the heads ended up flying and getting torn apart by my powerhead. I quickly grabbed a net and picked up the bigger pieces and some of my inverts quickly went to eat some of the other pieces.

I have a 60 gallon breeder with a 20 gallon sump. I don’t have a skimmer yet. Will my tank be okay? I don’t think I have enough salt right now to do a quick water change and I’d have to order it so it could arrive later this week. Can a water change hold off for now or is this an emergency?

I've never heard or read of a head regrowing a skeleton one it bails.
I don't think pieces of the torch in the water will hurt anything. At least they never have in mine.
You should be fine without a skimmer for now. I run 3 tanks with no skimmer.

I'm in agreement that you won't have an issue. You may get a little spike but nothing to be overly concerned with. Looks like you're gonna have to get another Torch! But this time BIGGER!
