Hey, i have several torch's that were of normal shape when i purchased them, but over the last 4 months they have started to twist and inflate their tentacle. The inflation can be mid tentacle. All water parameters are in normal range and they get moderate flow and the tentacles expand quite a bit. Light received is around 116 to 120 PAR. They're not getting stung by anything as early on i had a hammer coral sting and kill two heads, so i've had to shift the hammers further away and block contact with a rock. I do have a soft coral that is getting a beating and is nearly always closed but this started way before the torch started touching and that particular torch is unafected by the twists. Any ideas whats going on?

I think i just found the problem. :face-with-tears-of-joy: Because i do large water changes and the torches are exposed for half an hour ( they stay wet with sprinkler system) The tentacles hang off the skeleton and don't retract. When the tank is filling with water they tend to wave around allot from the tips while the base of the tentacle is somewhat stretched. The more i think about it the more it makes sense. When they shrink at night they look perfectly norma. I think their integrity when fully expanded has been compromised and now misshapen in appearance.

yeah, don't do that... :thinking-face: wait til closed or close them by waving your hand first...:)

They are filling with water to not die while exposed to air.

Try to do smaller water changes and not expose them.

Or get a bucket and put them in water.

It's ok for a few minutes but you're pushing it lol
