I know. I need to learn patience. However, I have kessil 160we and it hard to pin the PAR. I will try to leave the settings for a month and change slow if needed. Scoly is a bit shaded so its not blasted with light.

Its easy. Grab a lux meter. $16 on amazon. divide lux reading by 60. Its easily that your not giving it enough light with that fixture. I believe with that light at full it only delivers 300 or 400 par or so at 12 in. Id bet the coral wants around 100+ or so. same with the scoly Id bet.

fwiw 6000 lux is 100 par approx at a 1:1 color ratio so you can increase 3000 lux and know its about 50 par. Just measure at the top of the water.

Kessil 160we. Turns on at 8:00am with 5% intensity and 0 color. Peaks at 12 with 40 intensity and 30 color. Comes down starting at 5 pm to 9 pm.

I also have a innovative marine mesh lid on the tank which seems to cut down a lot of light. Itsmesh is thick and I hate that thing. I had to keep it on as my all fish seem to think jumping is fun. Working on replacing the mesh with a thinner more spaced mesh.

Think I should increase the intensity? No SPS, lots of acans and other lps, shrooms.

its worth a shot. it doesn't def doesn't sound like much light. Fwiw I think the 160 maxes out(full power) at 300 to 400 par or so at 12in.

If you increase just do it slowly.

Although it might be too soon to tell, I wanted to update the last week's changes. A lot happened, which is both good and bad.

The light intensity was increased to 45% and Color is 25% at peak. the lights are on a 12:30 hour cycle. I changed the Innovative Marine mesh in the screen top to BRS clear netting. The difference was like night and day. The BRS clear netting is amazing. The corals seem to be really happy. My acans' polyps almost doubled in size than usual during the day.

Earlier last week, my as***le starry blenny who killed my favorite leopard wrasse, terrorized the tank decided he needs to explore the mysteries of carpet. Screen top couldn't stop him (there is a gap in the back for wires). I don't know if I should be glad or sad. I have tried several times to catch him; I even took the tank apart, but he hid inside a live rock for the whole day. I also gave my dying scoly to my LFS to see if they could revive her as I don't have a coral hospital tank)

Yesterday, my 5 month old skimmer decided to stop working. So, for now there won't be any skimming. Pods seem to be really happy about that, woke up today to see the glass crawling with pods, which my two disbars quickly gobbled up.

I can almost say that taking care of my little 30 gallon tank is like a part time job :/ but I forget all the efforts and costs when I look at my euphyllia swaying in the current, my acans trying to catch a piece of food and my fish get all excited when I get close to the tank, begging for food.

Yes it cycled. We've had it lil over 4 months now. We've had the clean up crew for a while & then added two fish to the tank they did great so added a couple more fish & the frag & torch over the weekend
