I bought a torch coral yesterday and at the lfs it looked nice, healthy, with long flowing "stringy" tentacles. I did all the proper acclimation and still after a day, the tentacles are constricted near the skeleton, bubbled up and not flowing and long as it was at the lfs. Not sure what's wrong with, if it's annoyed and irritated. My other corals are doing well with no signs of distress, please help!

The lfs was using the same lighting, kessil a150w that I am using too. There flow seemed to be a little stronger than mine. I have my mp10 on lagoon mode at about half power, the torch isnt in the line of flow so nothing is hitting it directly.

It likes enough flow to make it sway nicely. Also, where do you have it in your tank? Place it on the bottom or the lower half of the tank.

I just added the torch 2 days ago, it is sitting at the bottom of my pillar structure, not on the very bottom but still the lowest point. Flow is medium in the tank where my other corals are swaying anywhere in the tank

This was it in the store, there's two different heads so it looks bigger here than it actually is

And this is it still after two whole days in my tank

While it is withdrawn, it still looks healthy to me. I'd say it is acclimating and give it a little more time.

Tomorrow will mark a week since I've purchased the torch, it showing improvement but still short and stubby with the tentacles. Don't you all think that it would have acclimated to my water, flow and lighting by now?

+1 it looks much better to me today. Patience is needed here unless you see more drastic change for the worse...euphyllia can be touchy and 2 days in your tank does not seem like a long time to me.

You should worry if you see melting or tissue begins to recede.

ps. nice ledge that the torch is on! Looks like alternative reef stuff in your tank? Cool!

I think its looking better! It looks healthy. Just for kicks and giggles GENTLY squirt a little pe mysis at it and see if it grabs it. I think it will.
