Torch looking stressed?

I am not an expert on torches. I have one healing from shipping as of now.

As others have posted, leave it on a rock above the sand. Don't let sand touch the flesh. It could have used a frag plug, maybe.

I'd run water tests. It's a lot for one guy. Looks pretty though

Not days. Weeks. Once algae grows on the skeleton. It maybe game over.

I won’t be adding any more until I get this red slime algae under control.

My next purchase will either be a orchid dottyback or a blenny.

I am so sorry that has happened. If the torch isn't melting, take a turkey baster to clean the rock off. You have to manually remove red slime.

Torch really looks upset, unless it has brown jelly. I can't say for sure.

I will try to remove the algae manually, thank you. It’s not brown just yet, but 2 or 3 tentacles just broke off. I’m afraid it’s pretty close. :(

I'll be honest, they never should have sold the frag. Beautiful colors. I would have snatched it up as well.
Red algae is mean. It will kill all kinds of things. And it stinks bad too.

I picked up a very small Aussie torch yesterday.

That torch is cracked, Whoever sold u that scammed you. It looks like it split when they fragged it. Get some superglue gel and try and rebuild the damaged part of the skeleton. If you can do that it may survive but chances are it’s going to melt.

This is so unlike my LFS, they usually are super good about this stuff.

When I called, this lady answered and she said she would tell the owner. Then she called back and said there was no refund or replacement available. Then she told me stuff I already knew. (About the flow, lights, etc.)

I really don’t want to handle it anymore. If it dies it dies, and I learned a very valuable lesson - pay VERY close attention to the frag before you buy.

I had an awful time with LPS until my tank was about a year old. Even now they're still a pain.

You can try and save it using glue. That will help keep the polyp from getting injured or melting. Try to glue in the red area of the drawing. Make sure that it is the gel glue and not regular, you don’t want to glue the polyps down, you just want to rebuild the skeleton. I just saved a lobo from the same situation, the skeleton was cracked in 5-6 pieces and I used glue to rebuild it and it’s doing great now.

Put a small Tupperware container in the tank and then move the torch to it before taking it out of the tank so that way it never leaves the water. While you work on it you can use a shallow dish/plate to keep the Majority of it in the water.

Just went to glue it, and found that it only had 3 little tentacles left on it.

I glued it anyway, but I’m pretty sure it’s a goner.
