This is one of the Euphyllia I rescued from my mom’s tank. It has been recovering well in my dedicated soft/LPS nano tank. At first I thought it was a hammer, but now that the tentacles are expanding more I’m thinking torch. Am I right?

i’m a little more fixated on the lack of flesh band. Hopefully it will come around

It was getting harassed in my mom’s tank by some clowns trying to host. It is coming around. The tentacles weren’t even expanding a week ago.

What I can see is a torch head. The crown of the head seems to be that. Can you get a picture that is a bit more clear? And ticked off hammers or frog spawns do not extend like this from my experience. Have them all in my coral tank and have seem all versions ticked off.

I can try to get a clearer picture. It’s kind of at the back middle of the tank so it’s hard to get close.

Bicolor green and purple tips are common in hammers, rare in frogspawn, and probably non-existent in torches. The tentacle shape is also most consistent with and Indonesian hammer coral. Its overwhelmingly likely to be a branching hammer coral.

You know what missed that detail! Good catch and you’re right! Also clicked on the pic to enlarge it. And I see a three-way way tentacle that I have seen in hammers. Good call.
