Hi guys,

I’m having some recent troubles with my torch coral. The last week or so the tentacles on the green tip side are not fully extended. I’ve had this coral no problems for around 5 months. I don’t feed and it gets bursts of medium flow/rest every 30 seconds or so. PAR is unknown but probably not high. No loss of colour and I don’t feed other than the fish.

My filtration is filter socks cleaned twice a week, a skimmer run during the day only, carbon and chaeto.

Alk: 8.5-9
Calc: 420-435
Mag: ~1300
PH: 8.3
Nitrate: undetectable
Phosphate: undetectable
All Red Sea test kits

Salinity 35ppt

Can’t see any infection or pests. Please give me some advice.

I spot feed my torches (all my corals) every three days. Reef roids with mysis or brine shrimp mix. And like to keep flow coming from all directions. The torches specially go wild and are fully extended except for right before lights out, they will retract. But come back out in the am.

roids will also bring up nutrients;)

LPS do better on higher nutrient systems.

Aim for at least 5ppm -10 ppm no3 and 0.03 -0.08 po4.
