Torch receding two hours before lights out

Hello everyone. This is my New York Nik’s torch. I have had him for a few months now. He has been doing amazing but about two weeks ago he has started receding two hours before my lights turn off. He has been doing this for two weeks, but in the daytime he is perfectly healthy and full. I’m starting to worry and don’t understand what’s going on. I have other torch corals that are doing perfect and many other mixed reef corals, including guns and acro that are thriving perfectly.

I have not dipped it since I added it to the tank. I’ll send a photo tomorrow showing what it looks like in the daytime. I never thought about dipping it because it’s doing so well. I haven’t been panicking much because I know it’s somewhat normal for torches to recede in the nighttime from time to time. Sometimes my torch recedes when he’s over eaten but this has been going on for a consistent two weeks.

Do you think I should dip it?

Do your lights ramp down? All my corals start to close up when they know the lights are dimming. Usually an hour before lights are completely off. Corals follow a daily rhythm same way all fish get to there sleeping spots an hour or so before lights cut

I’ve noticed my torch coral…. Which doesn’t look as good as yours…. Does the same thing. It is enclosed when I get up in the morning and lights are off. But when I get home from work it’s wide open. Then it closes up as it gets closer to the evening and the lights go to moonlight.

I guess it’s normal then. I do have a ramp up and down. I use the AB plus, but I made some edits, adding more white lights throughout the whole entire day.

Could it be that my torch is splitting? Would that be a reason for it to show its teeth like that or skeleton? It does look like it’s splitting into four. I did notice that the torches tentacles or polyps don’t extend as long as they did in the past. It’s super healthy in the day, but not as long as before.

how long is your lighting period?

12 hour cycle. Been running it for a long time like this and never had any issues. All corals are growing rapidly and happy. Many of them actually been splitting on me pretty fast.
