I have a torch with about 15-16 heads to it right now. I can count 3 or 4 new heads that have sprung up in the last month or so. The problem is that when fully extended the massive heads on top shade out the new growth on the base staulk/stem. Ive tried tilting it every which way, still some part of this beats is shaded. Will the new heads be fine untill they grow to reach the light? Any suggestions? The thought of busting out the dremmel and sculpting a wicked torch garden has crossed my mind...

in the past i had to dremel my hammerhead as they wouldnt survive in the shade. mine went from 3-4 heads to well over 20 in 3yrs. i just cut the lower ones that sprout out that way they atleast have a chance.
