Hi All,

I don't have a picture at the moment, I will try and add one when i get home later today.
Tissue on my torch has receded quite a bit, not sure why or what to do to reverse it.

salinity: 1.025
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10-20
Calcium: 430
Alkalinity: 9 - 9.5
Phosphate: 0 - 0.05

I'm only dose B-ionic 2 part.
Anything else I should add with it that may help?

Any input would be great.

What kind of flow is he getting?
Also is he fed well?

He gets a gentle wave style type flow, by no means is it getting beat on by heavy water movement.
I rarely target feed, its been in the tank for about 5-6 weeks, think I've target fed once.

I feed mine daily but I am a heavy feeder (3 times a day) so he gets I hand fed meal and then catches stuff from the normal tank feeding.
Mine recessed a little when I switched to my diy led but he is now on the botton.
Food! They love it ;)

I'll give feeding a try and see if it helps anything along.
The last time I fed him I used a mix of frozen mysis and oyster feast. Think that's alright? or should I find something better.

How are you dosing the tank? Are the alk swings significant? Are you doing a one time administration of part 2 daily?
Consider letting the alk drift down a tad.

Double check the values against another kit a Hanna preferably. Check the expiration date of the reagent.
Try to dose smaller amount twice a day and not at the same time as the part 1. Dose to a sump if able.
Tissue recession on an Euphyllia is often an alkalinity issue or other chemistry problem. With sufficient lighting most Euphyllia do not need heaving feedings. You could also try small particulate foods such as Reef Roids and or Acropower or Sponge power.
Cut back on any Carbon filtration as well if able.

ok thanks, ill give these a try as well.
I usually dose the alk first and wait about 5 minutes or so then add the calc.

As far as reducing the carbon, how do you mean?
Right now I have a bag rated for 50g in the sump that I change out every 10 - 14 days

Feeding will help spur the growth and give time for the recession to hopefully slow down
Even bacteria can cause recession but it may be a temporary issue.
Push the growth a little ;)

You really should not need to change out the charcoal that often. I change mine monthly at the very most and use a smaller than recommended amount.

It's been my experience that Euphyllia can thrive in higher nutrient systems, your Nitrates are 10-20 (which is fine in most tank types as long as there is an absence of the algae). As previously posted smaller particulate supplements may be of assist.

Have you tested pH values of late?

i have a slight diatom bloom, that has already faded away by about 40-50% ( this is the second one apart from the first one during the "cycle")
this one i believe came from my sister over feeding the tank while i was on vacation.

no hair algae or dinos, nothing like that.
last time i checked the PH was about a week ago and it matched to the 8.2 on the api color chart.

i really need to just cave and drop the cash for all hannah test products or atleast salifert.

Hanna is not that expensive when you compare the price to what one pays in dosing products and live stock. So much easier to test and get a routine down. Once you get dialed in testing become less frequent.
When you get a chance check am pH value right before the lights come on to pm pH value right before the lights go off and see if the swing is significant.

PH at night seconds ofter lights out 8.2
PH in the morning about an hour before lights on 8.0

kind of at a loss, my hammer is starting to show signs now as well. in my previous tank I never had this type of issue, and my water quality was worse on that one also.
the only other thing that comes to mind is maybe the Kessil, previous tank was smaller but had a two bulb t-5
this tank is only running the kessil a360, I backed the "intensity" off from 65% to 45%.
light is sitting 9" - 9.5" above the water, tank is 24" deep.

Most definitely, it also depends on how old the T5 bulbs were, Kessil packs a bigger punch, it takes some acclimation.

LED acclimation takes a lot longer then I initially thought, but it's worth the patience.
