Torches fleshabnd puffy!

Has anyone seen the flesh band of a Torch coral get puffy or look like it has a bubble/extra expanded? First lic shows the torch is expanded and looks good, picture doesn't do it justice. The last pic is what it normally looked like before. What could cause this? Only had the torch for about 3 weeks roughly. It has looked great the entire time. It is splitting heads.

Nope and nope and nope . Lol

The first time it happened I paid attention and did nothing and it went back to normal. So now I just kinda ignore it. Corals do weird things….

Yea my torch is still doing the same thing. One area looks like the skin is retracting due to the puffy area. Torch is still expanded and looks healthy. I wish I knew what was causing it.

I have experienced 2 different kinds of “puffy”
Fleshband in 2 different tanks. The puffy that you don’t have to panic are the ones that look like they just got injected steroids and are flexing muscle . Flesh is still snug agiainst skeleton.

The other puffy is like you mention if you see flesh loose . Look at the bottom where flesh suppose to be snug against the skeleton but it’s becoming detached.

It could be a number of factors, check your parameters , any other torches with similar symptoms and you will need to test your water for pathogens.

I’m seeing the flesh “staying away” from that particular spot as if something is bothering the flesh, so it grows away from the spot and otherwise healthy.

There’s something I see sticking out, maybe just a tuff of hair algae but to fuzzy on my end to identify.

Yea not sure what's going on. It's algae that you're seeing.

So next morning mine was back to normal and it appears to be doing what you are hinting at here that the heads are splitting

Mine just seems to be doing worse. I think at least. That was as I dipped it last night in CoralRX. I would be thrilled if it was just the heads splitting.

I hope it’s splitting for you as well. I haven’t removed mine to see if it’s showing the same signs since mine went back to normal overnight. If it were me, I would try a different dip if you feel it’s getting worse. Maybe something with iodine or peroxide. I know people seem to have good success with the KFC dip method on euphyllia

Just bought some Lugols. Probably should of tried this before Coral RX. We shall see.
