totally bumed

Had a copperband for over a year, very healthy and stong. Eat like a pig every feeding. Would go after food the tangs had. Well I have a MP-60 and couldnt program it so I would leave it on a low setting. The copperband would sometimes nip at the food stuck to the sponge around it. Well the other day I ramped up the speed just for the hell of it. Passed my the tank and I was shocked ,the butterfly was stuck to the sponge. I was in raged. I pulled the plug and the butterfly just swam away like nothing. Back to feeding daily and li ke 5 days later I didnt see him.He was likethe star of the tank. Always first at the glass and proud. Well found him lying in the sand panting. He got up a few times but then that was it. I did notice a lot of swelling and dis coloration of his lower belly. Must have got some bad damage and it caught up to him. RIP buddy :ooh::cry:

man i hear about a lot of fish getting caught in those. im sorry to hear your copperband.

Sucks Bill. Sorry to hear about that. Those mp60's are fish killers for sure.

Its a very strong pump, my next build will be much different. Now I must keep an eye out for another copper. I like to nurse the hard to keep stuff. I have much success but this was just stupid

Ive heard a lot about these being fish killers. There has to be a way to fish proof them...

+1 on the fish killers. Sorry to hear about your loss Bill I know the feeling except my loss wasn't due to a powerhead it was due to a carpet. Good luck finding your next one I know they are tough to keep very limited success stories like achilies and moorish idols
