Tough Calls

Breaks my heart to say but unfortunately had to remove my clown tang today that I had for the last 3 years since he was a baby . Sadly he has recently begun exhibiting a roid rage like behavior. Friendly to all one second. Aggressive to all the next. Even has in the last two weeks started to aggressively attack the same glass cleaner I have had since he was bought which is completely out of behavior. Don’t think I will be able to rehabilitate him this time especially as he continues to grows so time to make the tough call. Sucks though, such a beautiful fish. Will have to try and find home a nice home now.

But to not make this post just about me. Will ask the simple question. What are some of the toughest calls you had to make while reefing.

 

[The Ugly Phase]

euthanizing my goldrim tang i have no clue what was wrong with it had not ate for 13 days was pale and patchy just floated round the tank didn't even sleep was like a zombie fish

This was before I even got into reefing. I started working at an office job where someone kept a betta in a wine glass on their desk. I started doing maintenance on the wine glass betta because it was being neglected, and that person quit shortly after I started so I fully took over fish care from there. I bought it a 2.5g tank with live plants (not ideal but it was larger than the wine glass and I was not a fish person at the time).

Eventually his popeye started getting worse and worse until he began to pinecone so I made the decision to euthanize him. I cried like an ugly baby.

I will never buy another betta again unless it's a situation where one falls into my lap since I just dont enjoy the species that much, but it did snowball from there.
