Just wanted to post an awareness/warning about TP link Kasa powerstrips. I like many others have been using them with our aquariums to help automate stuff, I run reef-pi's so I usually have a hardwire relay and use the Kasa powerstrip for non critical stuff that I basically want on all the time. I started having issues with my powerstrip several months ago, my tank is in my basement and since Covid I have been working from home full time, before it was 1-2 days a week. Several months ago I started noticing the WHOLE Kasa powerstrip resetting. It would do this maybe once or more times and then run for some length of time where it would be fine, weeks etc. I did some research and its not just me that has experienced this, the main reason I noticed is when it reset it would cut power to my return pump and flushing my bean animal overflow I would notice it. It seemed to get better but a couple weeks ago got alarms about my tank temp going low and upon investigation I noticed that my cooling fans were on and not responding and it appears that the whole Kasa power strip locked up. That was fine for my return pump and powerheads etc but the fans staying on kept cooling the tank...Of course I reset the strip and things started to work again but I ultimately ripped it out last week for another hardwired relay strip to my reef-pi.

Just wanted to pass this along as a canary in the coal mine, for me I no longer trust them and if I used them I would never have anything critical using them like dosing etc...but thats just me...they are great until there not...:)

As I've said in many threads about using smart strips, I had one brick which caused the relay to hang in the off position which crashed my tank. Wont use them for crucial stuff anymore.
Yup me neither....just thought I would try to let folks know....:)
