I just got this awesome Trachy. I did quite a bit of research online before I got it, but would like to hear from you Trachy owners out there and tips & tricks to good husbandry. This guy is my centerpiece and I want to keep it looking healthy and happy for years to come.
Tank & Parameter Info:
20gal Waterbox Cube
Light: AI Prime (with setting set with help from one of the super knowledgeable guys @ my LFS)
Eshopps Nano Skimmer
Aqua Mai KPS wave pump
Parameters:
SG: 1.025
PH: 8.1
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 5ppm (can get up to 10ppm right before water change)
Alkalinity: 125ppm
Calcium: 430ppm
Magnesium: 1400ppm
Phosphate: 0.01 ppm
Temp is running @ 76-77 pretty consistently
I’ve got the Trachy places on the sandbed, in an area of medium flow and in a slightly shaded spot in the front of my tank for starters.
I do a couple of weekly broadcast feedings rotating using oyster feast & reef roids. And target feeding for acans and lobo of lrs reef frenzy twice a week.
My tank is mostly acans, zoas, a couple of blastos, 2 hammers, and a lobo brain. Tank has been set up since July 2018 and I’ve experienced great growth on all my corals. So far I’ve only lost 2 frags....knock on wood!
