Helping my daughter tracking a metal source that icp test found. Could this be it on the rod/shaft? I had it soaking in water vinegar mixture and a Mr clean sponge did wipe it off after 15 min.

Hi, hope all is well

The impeller shaft looks ok as far as corrosion is concerned. I would not see it as the culprit. What was the elevated element on the test? I usually see most people come back with high Al. Which element and a brief description of the tank, equipment, dosing, salt, etc should help pinpoint it.

The first thing we always say to look for is the magnets in use around the tank if any

If you are adding any kind of "color" supplements, then this could be your issue. The Zeo ones have these in them, as well as others.

Nobody really knows what is in those, but lots of them contain metals... they kill off some of the zoox to make colors better with less density. Zeo has heavy metals like zinc in their supplements.

I do not use any supplements, but if those are designed for "color," then this is likely your source. If they are just calcium and carbonate, then probably not your source.
