SCIENTIFIC NAME –Chaetodon trianguium

COMMON NAME – Triangular Butterflyfish

SIZE – 5.9" (15 cm)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE – 55 US Gal. (208 L)

FOODS AND FEEDING – The Triangular Butterflyfish consumes Acropora coral polyps. This species may also be enticed to eat live clams and live mussels (both with shells cracked open).

CAPTIVE CARE – The Triangular Butterflyfish is difficult to keep in live aquaria due to it’s dietary needs. This species should be kept singly unless a proven pair is available. This fish may be aggressive toward tank mates of the same family, similar coloration, similar shape, and competitors for food. Prefers an environment with plenty of swimming room, adequate hiding places, and temperatures in the range of 71-82 F (22-28 C). Should be kept with less aggressive tank mates until fully acclimated.
