How many times a day are you running tests? Is once a day sufficient

I think most can make good enough use of daily testing not to mention the idea of replacing reagents twice as often would aggravate me. That being said, there are people that send ICP tests every couple of weeks so to each their own!

The Trident ACM has a default schedule of 4 alk, 2 ca, 2 mg. The alkalinity tests is every 6 hours, ca and mg is every 12. There are two other schedule selections which changes the frequency up to 24 alk tests per day and 12 ca, mg.

The Trident NP only does 1 test per day for nitrate and phosphate.

Hobbyist can run manual tests.

The only way to do 1 test per day for the Trident ACM is via a hack. In my opinion the juice isn't worth the squeeze. If you want a single test per day buy another product or do manual tests. The Trident ACM using OEM reagents on the 4/2/2 schedule has a $0.17 cost per test.

The margin for error on these tests can skew data points if you’re testing multiple times per day. If the MFE is x%, then you could test 3 times in 10 minutes and get 3 different results. If you test once a day, at the same time, as already suggested, over several days you get a more accurate idea of what the tank is consuming daily. And for dosing, that’s what matters most. And quite honestly, getting an accurate mag test from anything other than an Icp is a tall order.

I can’t think of many reasons why you would need to know what your alk is more than once a day.
