How many hours a day are you running your lights? And are they still 100% on both channels???
Thank you in advance!

For changing the leds, does brand matter, or does anything from China generally work fine? They all seem to be epistar on ebay. Also are the ones I should get are the 3w, forward voltage 3.2-3.4, and forward current 700ma, for the standard 165w two channel black boxes? Also how close do the nm numbers matter do you think? Is 425nm a fine replacement for 420nm if the vendor doesn't have 425nm?

So for power consumption calculation, the light would use 3w * . 700ma being 2.38 watts per led, thus 55*2.38 about 130 watts (max) power draw?

Thanks - i removed the whole Blue Channel pretty quickly with your advice!

Thanks Trido!

I haven’t posted any real updates on the tank for a long time. There have been some ups and downs over the last year. Mostly good growth, but a couple set backs. Last fall, I was having some mystery burned tips on SPS and random coral death over all. It took two months to figure out that my salinity was low. It was sitting at 1.021 when I finally discovered the problem. I poured a whole 50gallon bag of salt straight into the sump to raise the salinity back up to 1.026 and corals rebounded quickly. I lost a few large colonies.

Since then. I finally upgraded to three used Radion G4’s. XR-30. This is the cleanest my above tank wiring ya ever been. The hooks are from 13 years and six generations of lighting configurations over the tank

This winter, I also decided to clean up my wiring. I’m pretty OCD about an organized and clean house, but my tank wiring has never been a concern. I finally reached a tipping point

I spent over five hours working on this part after dealing with the lighting wiring the weekend before

I also recently retired my 13 year old GEO 624 calcium reactor. I stumbled across a used reef octopus and carbon doser selenoid from a friend. It was a deal I couldn’t pass up. The octo holds about ten pounds more media than my GEO so I can go longer without topping off

Last weekend, I stole an idea from @Thales and turned an old RO chamber into a slow feeder for my LPS. I can put a cube of PE calanus, mysis shrimp, Rotifers or other small food into it and the bubbler will trickle feed into my return pump for the display tank for about two hours I love this thing.

It still has the original pump and seals. It just keeps on chugging along. Im passing it along to someone full of media for a low low price. I expect that they will get another five years out of it pretty easily.
